November 2009Arts and EntertainmentThrough November Art: Welcome To The NeighborHOOD Community Arts Project The Sargent Johnson Gallery will present a community arts project focused on environmental and social justice issues facing Bayview-Hunters Point. Under the direction of Literacy for Environmental Justice, sixteen youth worked with several community artists to explore personal experiences, gentrification and displacement, the opposing forces of man versus nature, art as activism, and the positive people and influences in their community. Music: Kitka & Hasmik Harutyunyan: Armenian Lullabies and Songs of Longing One of Armenia’s leading folk singers, Hasmik Harutyunyan, will join female vocal ensemble Kitka for a concert to celebrate the release of Kitka’s new CD, Cradle Songs. Crafts Sale: The Women’s Building 31st Annual Celebration of Craftswomen Get your holiday shopping underway at San Francisco’s biggest holiday crafts fair.
