Police Blotter

May 15, 2:47 p.m., Warrant Arrest, Tennessee and Cesar Chavez:  Homeless Resource Officer Lavin responded to a complaint about an encampment.  Upon her arrival, the officer stopped a subject who was walking away from the encampment, discovered several outstanding warrants for the subject’s arrest and placed her into custody.  The encampment was cleaned up by the Department of Public Works.


May 13, 4:32 p.m., Warrant Arrest, Resisting Police Officers, Missouri and Turner Terrace:  Bayview plainclothes team members were in the area of Missouri and Turner Terrace when they saw a subject who they knew was wanted on an outstanding warrant standing in the rear area of a unit.  The officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, but he fled through a residence, jumped out of a back window, and continued running.   The officers captured the suspect and took him into custody.  One officer suffered a laceration to his hand in the pursuit.


May 10, 4:12 a.m., Robbery with a Gun, 1800 block of 26th Street:  Officer Alvarenga responded to a report of a robbery with a gun.  The officer spoke with the victim, who stated that he was walking to his house holding a small portable television when he was accosted by three hooded individuals.  The victim ignored the suspects, and put the key in his front door lock, when one of the suspects pointed a gun at him.  The victim got past the front door and locked the deadbolt from the inside.  The suspects then took the keys from the front lock, which the victim had left behind.  The suspects fled the area and were not located.  The victim was not injured and was advised to change his locks immediately.


May 10, 2:20 a.m.,
Robbery with a Gun, 20th and Illinois streets:  Officers Guzman and Alvarenga responded to a call regarding a robbery with a gun.  The officers spoke to the victims, who stated that they were walking down the street when two suspects approached them from behind.  One suspect pointed a gun at one of the victims and asked him if he wanted to get shot.  The suspects then “frisked” the victim and took his phone, wallet, credit cards, and ATM card. The suspects took off running and jumped into a waiting car.  The victims were not injured during the incident.  The suspects were not located.


May 9, 7:35 p.m.,
Burglary of a Store, Petty Theft, Warrant Arrest, 400 block of Rhode Island Street:  Officer Cota, along with Training Officer McCormick, responded to a store regarding a theft.  The officers met and spoke with store security, who had detained a suspect who had attempted to steal numerous items.  The officers placed the suspect under arrest and transported her to Bayview Station, where they discovered she had outstanding warrants for theft and burglary.


May 6, Robbery Abatement, San Bruno Avenue:  In an effort to stem robberies on the San Bruno Avenue corridor, Bayview plainclothes officers and inspectors in the robbery unit joined forces to conduct a decoy operation.  An officer dressed in street clothes, and poised as an easy target, placing them at risk of personal injury.  The operation paid off; two arrests were made.  One of those arrested was a parolee who will be returning to prison.


May 5, 6:58 a.m., Robbery with a Gun, Unit Block of Mississippi:  As a woman approached her office door she saw a person sleeping under a blanket.  She unlocked the door, and the person emerged from the blanket holding a handgun and yelled for the victim to give him her bag.   The suspect called out to his associate for assistance.  Another male came from around the corner.   The woman let go of her bag, gained entry to her office, and locked the door.   A witness said that the males fled on foot.  The suspects were described as black males between 18 and 25 years old, 5 foot, eight inches, 170 pounds.  They were wearing black garbage bags over their black clothing.  Based on the statements of the victim and a witness, it appears that the suspects were only feigning to be homeless.  The incident was captured on video surveillance.


May 2, 9:22 p.m., Narcotics Offense, Probation Violation, 18th Street and San Bruno Avenue:  Bayview officers responded to a call about two people having sex in the park.   The officer’s found the couple; although they were displaying public signs of affection they were not engaged in the aforementioned activity.   A computer check revealed that the male had an outstanding warrant, and was on probation.  A search of his person revealed numerous bundles of methamphetamine.  The male was booked with a probation hold.  His female companion, who was from San Mateo, was sent on her way.
